Westfield Board of Education Agrees to Compromise on Kehler Stadium Renovation Schedule

In response to concerns voiced by parents and track and field student-athletes about a possible March 1 start date for the Kehler Stadium renovation project, the Westfield Board of Education is expected to approve at its Oct. 9 meeting an amendment to the contract that sets April 8 as the date for construction to begin.

STEM Camp Celebrates 6th Successful Year

Whether building solar ovens, sewing circuits into fabric to create e-textiles or designing and programming robots, the Westfield Public School District’s STEM camp combined project-based learning, ingenuity and fun for a sixth summer.

A first grader enjoys a sunny day on the blacktop at Wilson School during “Peaceful Playground,” a fun and engaging course on conflict resolution that is part of the Extended School Year Program.

The Extended School Year Program for preschool through high school students in the Westfield Public School District is in its 16th year, with a continued focus on maintaining and strengthening academic skills through the summer to prepare students for the new school year.
